Storage unit ownership issue

My nephew was behind in his storage unit rent. The unit contained various family possessions. To avoid auction he transferred the unit to me (I have the signed document), I paid the owed rent and distributed the contents. Weeks later his father reimbursed me for the owed rent. Since he reimbursed me can he lay claim to the contents?
